Many small and medium-sized lakes in the Tampere Region make for fascinating fishing sites. The most common game species are pike, perch and various cyprinids. On medium-sized lakes, you can catch big pike weighing as much as 10 kilos or more.

Dark and muddy lakes also have good stocks of zander. Well-known zander sites include Lake Nerkoonjärvi in Kihniö and Lake Rutajärvi in Urjala.
